  1. The Pentagon’s $10bn JEDI Contract to go to Either AWS or Microsoft

    Last year, US Defense Deputy Secretary Patrick Shanahan announced that the Department of Defense will undergo a big transition to cloud computing platforms through the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) acquisition. Most people think that Amazon will definitely win the contract over Microsoft, but this has very recently become quite uncertain thanks to claims by Oracle that Amazon has rigged the JEDI bidding process.

  2. IBM Complete Acquisition of Red Hat

    In October 2018, IBM agreed to acquire the open-source Linux software developer Red Hat for $34 billion. The acquisition is now complete as of July 9th 2019 and marks the biggest acquisition for IBM yet, but some Linux professionals are skeptical of just how beneficial this will be for them.
